Bentley has made it through almost a week on 3 legs. I think it is harder on me than it is on him. He has mastered the 2 steps going in and out of the house and is following me everywhere. Right now his daddy is the unpopular one because he has been designated as the pill giver. Last year we were battling heart worm and I was the designated pill giver. He got to the point that he wouldn’t take anything from my hand. Pills are no fun! But we got him through the heart worm, only to be diagnosed with this cancer 4 months later! He is scheduled to start chemo on 8/6. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would pay for chemo for a dog but this is not just any dog, he is our baby. Statistically, he could have another almost 2 years if we do chemo, which would be an average life span for a dog of his size, even if he was completely healthy, he is 10 now. We are hoping he will tolerate the chemo without side effects, the unknown is pretty scary though. All in all, he is doing well so far! 🙂
Aww, Bentley rocks! And yes, it’s definitely harder on the humans than it is on the dogs (and cats).
Have you ever tried a pill gun? Surf our Forums, Amazon or Gear blogs for the term “pill gun” to see what they’re all about. Once we discovered them we were like “WHY didn’t we use one before?”
